Main Accused in Cumilla Incident Will Be Arrested Soon: Home Min

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has said that those who were trying to incite communal mayhems would be arrested soon.

The minister said the main accused in the Cumilla incident was on the run but he too would be brought to justice soon.

He was speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural function of the program titled 'Technological Modernization of Rapid Action Battalion-RAB' on Tuesday (October 19). The Home Minister inaugurated the program at the RAB headquarters with a view to expanding the best and overall use of information technology in all battalions and camp levels of RAB.

He said such an incident had never happened before in any puja mandapa.

He further said, when police could not control the situation despite their best efforts, they were forced to open fire in Chandpur.

The minister said that a vested quarter is spreading the propaganda to unleash mayhem in the country. A few days ago, a man named Shaheen was hacked to death in Pallabi. The accused identified from the video footage have been arrested there. But recently, using the video footage, a group is trying to instigate communal unrest on Facebook.

He said the miscreants have been kept under surveillance. They are changing places from time to time. But soon we would be able to catch them.
