Clash in Sitakunda over UP Polls, Dhaka-Ctg Highway Blocked

Voting in 835 unions is underway as part of the second phase of the union parishad polls. The polls opened at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday and will continue until 4:00 p.m.

Meanwhile, at Sonaichhari union in the Sitakunda upazila of Chattogram district, supporters of two member candidates clashed.

Following the altercation, some individuals blocked the Dhaka-Chattogram highway for around one hour. Meanwhile, police detained member candidates.

Sumon Banik, Officer-in-Charge of Sitakunda Thana, confirmed the news.

He said that the situation had been brought under control by the police.
