Killer of Sensational Sobdel Murder Held from C'wabganj

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-13 arrested the prime accused in the sensational murder case of Sobdel Hossain Mondal, 75, of Gaibandha from Sadar upazila in Chapainawabganj district today.

Commanding Officer (CO) of RAB-13 Commander Reza Ahmed Ferdous disclosed the information at a press briefing arranged at the battalion headquarters in Alamnagar area of the metropolis this afternoon.

The arrested person is Md Belal Hossain, 48, of Gaibandha district.

Earlier, some miscreants attacked Sobdel with sticks, bricks and other local weapons in a preplanned manner following enmity over lifting sand from a riverside area in village Bera under Saghata upazila in Gaibandha on November 6 last.

Local people rushed critically injured Sobdel to Saghata Upazila Health Complex where the attending physician declared him dead.

Md. son of the victim filed a murder case in this connection with Saghata police station on November 7 last.

"The victim's son Aiyub Hossain Mondal filed a case against the killers in this connection with Saghata police station under sections 143/323/307/302/114/34 of the Criminal Procedure Code on November 7 last," the RAB-13 CO said.

Following the sensational murder, the elite force started a shadow investigation into the case and the Crime Prevention Company (CPC)-3 of Gaibandha Camp of RAB-13 arrested the prime accused at 6 am today.

During primary interrogation, the arrested person admitted his involvement in murdering Sobdel Hossain Mondal and elaborately narrated the whole episode of the sensational murder.

"We are continuing hectic efforts to nab the other absconding culprits involved with the murder the elderly person," the RAB-13 CO said.

The arrested person was handed over to Saghata police station in Gaibandha today for taking further legal actions against him.
