BNP has announced a countrywide demonstration rally on Monday demanding that its "critically ill" chairperson Khaleda Zia be allowed to go abroad for advanced treatment.

However, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has hinted at cracking down on violent movements.

The minister said, "If they try to destroy life and property, the law enforcement agencies will take stern action. BNP can hold prayer mahfil, human chain. They can give political parties, programs. Our law enforcement will always be ready to protect the lives and properties of the people."

The home minister made the remarks in response to a question from reporters at the secretariat on Sunday (November 21).

Earlier, five parties appealed for permission to take Khaleda Zia abroad for medical treatment. The top leaders of the five parties, led by Kalyan Party chairman Syed Muhammad Ibrahim, made a written request to the home minister.

Regarding the meeting with the leaders of the five parties, the minister said that their request was that Khaleda Zia was ill, she was receiving medical treatment, she was on the verge of death. So can she be given the opportunity to go abroad for better treatment? They have brought here an appeal to the Hon'ble Prime Minister.

"I have told them that Begum Khaleda Zia's younger brother had earlier made an application to the Prime Minister," Home Minister said. I also sent that for the opinion of the Ministry of Law. The law minister has given details during the question and answer session of the parliament. After I said this they said they gave me a letter to consider whether it could be given for humanitarian reasons. I will send it to the Prime Minister.

Asked about bringing doctors from abroad for the treatment of law minister Begum Zia, the home minister said, "Our hospitals are well equipped." Any specialist doctor from abroad can come here. When a foreign doctor comes, that treatment can be done here. A doctor from United Hospital came to me a while ago - he told me the same thing. "

Asked whether the five-party petition would be sent today, the minister said the letter would be processed. Will be sent through the process.

Asaduzzaman Khan said, "I reminded him that the Prime Minister has set many examples. When Coco died, the Prime Minister rush to offer her condolences. But the gate of Khaleda Zia's residence was not opened that day. They know all this. However, they said that they should call on the Prime Minister to set an example. Events that have happened in the past. The things that happened to her should be forgotten and the work should be done."
