No bomb was found on the Malaysian Airlines plane that made
an emergency landing at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on
suspicion of having a bomb.
The bomb disposal unit of the Air Force informed the
executive director of the airport after a late night search on Wednesday
(December 1).
The Malaysian Airlines flight that left Kuala Lumpur landed
at Shahjalal Airport at 9:48 pm. The Air Force Bomb Disposal Unit then searched
the taxiway. The operation was supported by various intelligence agencies
including Army, RAB, APBN and Fire Service.
At around 1.30 pm, Group Captain AHM Touhidul Ahsan, director
of Shahjalal Airport, told reporters that they searched the entire aircraft and
its passengers in accordance with the Standard of Procedure (SOP), although the
information they received was not true.
"The information was not found to be true, but we did
not take it lightly," he said. "That is why after the landing of the
aircraft, the details were searched. According to SOP, first we offload the
passenger. Then I searched them. One by one, the members of the Air Force
searched the two luggage compartments of the aircraft. However, nothing
dangerous or bomb-like was found."
He added that at 7.30 pm, they received a report from the RAB
that a suspect from Malaysia was coming to Dhaka with a 'suspicious object'.
This information was given by calling RAB from a number in Malaysia.
Asked if a Pakistani man was on board the plane, Touhidul
said, "We have heard that. However, there were no Pakistani passengers on
the plane. Of the 135 passengers on board, 134 were Bangladeshis and one was a
Malaysian."
