Rajarbagh Pir Wants to Change Gopalganj District's Name

Pir Dillur Rahman of Rajarbagh Darbar Sharif wants to change the name of Gopalganj, the birthplace of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, to 'Golapganj'.

Such campaigns are being carried out through the two popular magazines published from Rajarbagh Darbar Sharif, Masik Al Bayyinat and Dainik Al Ihsan.

He is also campaigning to change the name of Narayanganj district to Nooraniganj, Thakurgaon district to Nurgaon, Brahmanbaria district to Amanbaria.

This information has come to light from the report submitted to the High Court bench.

Their activities are in direct conflict with the government policy, the prevailing laws of the country, the constitution and the basic spirit of the liberation war and are against social and communal harmony. Evidences in this regards can be found in the cases filed against the Pir and his followers of Rajarbagh Darbar Sharif in different police stations of the country and the results of the investigation of the cases.
