Mother Raped before Daughter in Khulna Hotel, SI Arrested

Police have arrested Detective Branch (DB) Sub-Inspector (SI) Jahangir Alam on charges of raping a woman at a residential hotel in Khulna.

He was remanded in custody by a court on Wednesday (December 8th). Officer-in-charge of Khulna Sadar Police Station Hasan Al Mamun confirmed the information.

Accused Jahangir Alam 

Jahangir Alam is serving at Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) unit.

According to the sources, the victim from Mongla in Bagerhat came to Khulna last Tuesday to visit a doctor for her daughter. For overnight stay, she booked at Room 13 of Sundarbans Hotel near Hadith Park. Jahangir entered the room in the guise of a policeman with the hotel boy around 2:15 pm. He kept questioning the girl who was with the woman. Jahangir did not want to believe if she introduced her daughter. He then threatened to evict the hotel boy from the room. Jahangir raped the woman in front of her daughter at around 2.30 pm.

At that time, the people of the area locked the main gate under the hotel and arrested Jahangir Alam and handed him over to the police. Later, Jahangir Alam was arrested and sent to jail in a case filed under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act filed by Khulna Sadar Police Station. The victim was admitted to the Medical College Hospital.

Investigating officer SI Abdul Hannan Mollah said the accused Jahangir Alam was arrested and sent to jail. However, no remand plea was made for questioning.
