Lyricist Russel Found Dead at Home

Lyricist Mehbubul Hasan Russel was found dead at his home at Lichubagan in Dhaka’s Tejgaon on Thursday night, reports media.

Police found the 47-year-old’s body hanging from the ceiling fan at his room after being informed by the family of the deceased.

Quoting the family, duty officer at Tejgaon industrial police station Saidur Rahman said Russel had his dinner and went to his room.

His family members became concerned after Russel stopped responding around 11:30 pm, he added.

The body was sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College morgue for autopsy.

Police primarily suspected the lyricist committed suicide, but the real reason can only be known after the autopsy, said the police official.

Russel, who was involved in journalism, wrote many popular songs, including “Din Bari Jay/Chore Pakhir Danay” sung by Bappa Mazumder.
