Moinuddin Abdullah, chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), said the list of Bangladeshis in Begumpara, Canada, could not be found. He made the remarks in response to a question from reporters at the company's head office on Wednesday (January 26th).

The ACC chairman said: I can't even get the list from the person who said this. One thing is that no matter how developed a country is, it does not want to give information about money laundering. Because, money is going to their country. They say I will give information if there is a case. But we need that information to file a case. No country is providing the necessary information.

The Berlin-based international anti-corruption watchdog Transparency International (TI) released its Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) -2021 in 180 countries on Tuesday. As a part of this, TIB, an affiliate of TI, published the concept of corruption in Bangladesh.

Asked about the response to the report, ACC chairman Moinuddin Abdullah said, "We have no reaction in this regard. It is not a matter of acceptance, it is not a matter of denial. This is a report from Berlin-based TI International, which reports that they have criteria. They did this by quoting from different indexes of eight organizations. '

The ACC chairman said, "We are moving forward with various adversities. It is not possible for the country to be free of corruption tomorrow. We are moving forward gradually. "

The ACC will take cognizance of the report, he said, adding, "We will look into it." If there are any recommendations for our work, if they are realistic, we will take appropriate action for future improvement. '

Asked if there was any research on corruption in any sector, he said, "We have a research wing. For two years, our activities have been a bit stagnant for COVID. We have recommended 22 ministries to stop corruption. Whether the ministry is implementing them or not, we do not have that executive power. That is their business. "

Asked whether corruption has increased or decreased, Moinuddin told reporters, "We will not say whether corruption has increased or not. When we receive allegations of corruption, it is our job to investigate and bring them to justice.
