3 Schoolgirls Crushed Under Train in Cumilla

Three female school students were crushed to death under the wheels of a train at Bijoypur Rail crossing of Cumilla’s Sadar South Upazila on Wednesday, reports media.

The deceased were identified as Mim, 14, Tasfia, 13 and Lima, 12. They were students of Bijoypur High School.

The Mymensingh- bound train of ‘Mohanagar Express’ from Dhaka hit the students at 11:30am in the area, leaving them dead on the spot, said Jasimuddin Khandakar, officer-in-charge (OC) of Laksam Railway Police Station.

The train communication between Dhaka and Chittagong remained suspended following the accident, he  said.

Meanwhile, agitated people in the area have blocked Cumilla-Noakhali regional highway after the accident.
