Child Shot Dead in Father's Lap: 5 Arrested with Main Accused

The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested five more people, including the main accused in the murder case of Jannatul Ferdous Tasfia (4) who was shot to death at her father's lap in Hajipur Union of Noakhali's Begumganj.

The fugitives in the murder case were arrested on Tuesday (April 19) night in a raid in Charklark Union of Subarnachar Upazila.

RAB-11 (CPC-3, Company Commander) Additional Superintendent of Police Khandaker Mohammad Shamim Hossain confirmed the arrest of the accused. He said five people, including the main accused Rimon, and his accomplice Mohiuddin, have been arrested. During this time, foreign and domestic arms and ammunition were recovered from the accused.

He also said that the details will be revealed later through a press release.

On April 13, a 4-year-old child Tasfia was shot dead by terrorists in Begumganj, Noakhali. The child's father Abu Jaher (37) also sustained a bullet injury in the incident. He is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in Dhaka.

One day after the incident, the victim's uncle Khalu Humayun Kabir became the plaintiff and filed a murder case against Rimon (25) and 16 others at Begumganj Model Police Station. Police later arrested four persons from Begumganj, Companiganj, and Kabir Hat Upazilas. On the other hand, a total of 9 people were arrested in this case as RAB arrested five people.
