A
total of 15 bridges in Khulna, Barisal and Gopalganj have been exempted from
toll on the inauguration day of Padma Bridge.
The
information was given in a circular signed by Fahmida Haque Khan, Deputy
Secretary, Road Transport and Highways Department, Ministry of Road Transport
and Bridges, on Thursday (June 23).
According
to the circular, Khan Jahan Ali (Rupsha) Bridge and Daratana Bridge under
Khulna Zone, Doarika-Shikarpur Bridge, Dapadapiya Bridge, Gabkhan Bridge,
Baleshwar Bridge, Patuakhali Bridge, and Sheikh Russell under Khulna Zone will
be inaugurated on June 25, 2022 only. Sheikh Kamal Bridge, Sheikh Jamal Bridge
and Payra (Lebukhali) Bridge and Mollahat Bridge in Gopalganj Zone, Achmat Ali
Khan Bangladesh-China Friendship Bridge, Kalna Ferry and Sheikh Lutfar Rahman
Bridge (Jute Bridge) have been exempted from toll on the inauguration day of
Padma Bridge.
Earlier,
on the inauguration day of the Padma Bridge, the Road Transport and Highways
Department decided not to collect tolls on the Buriganga Bridge, Dhaleshwari
Bridge and Arial Khan Bridge on the Dhaka-Mawa-Bhanga Expressway to avoid
traffic jams.
