Death Toll from Floods Reaches 87

Two more people have been killed in different parts of the country in the last 24 hours due to the catastrophic flooding triggered by heavy monsoon downpours, reports media.

They died by drowning in floodwater in Kurigram and Moulvibazar districts.

With the fresh deaths, the toll from flooding rose to 87 since May 17, according to the data provided by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Tuesday.

In addition, as many as 7,731 people, including 852 in the last 24 hours, were affected by various diseases such as vision impairment, diarrhoea, skin diseases, or sustained snakebites during the period from May 17 to June 28.

A total of 2,048 medical teams are now working to provide various health services to the flood-affected people in 185 upazilas of the 27 flood-affected districts, the DGHS added.
