PM Asks to Explain Fuel Price Hike to the Nation

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has asked to explain to the people clearly what the reason for increasing the fuel prices was and why it was necessary.

She gave this instruction to the Ministry of Power and Energy in the Cabinet meeting at the Secretariat on Thursday (August 11).

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina joined it virtually from Ganobhaban. She presided over the meeting.

After the meeting, Cabinet Secretary Khandkar Anwarul Islam told reporters that the draft National Industrial Policy-2022 has been approved in today's meeting. As a result, a strong industrial sector will develop in the country.

He also said that as a result, no one will be able to import medicine without a license. Anyone who does this will be punished with rigorous imprisonment for 10 years and a fine of Tk 10 lakh.

Besides, the same punishment will be imposed for stealing government medicines and selling them. However, the law does not say anything about the price and quality of medicines. He also said that these will be determined by policy.
