The Appellate Division canceled the order to
reinstate 85 upazila election officials who were appointed during the
BNP-Jamaat government in 2005 and dismissed during the previous caretaker
government.
Appellate bench headed by Chief Justice Hasan Foez
Siddique passed the verdict today Thursday (September 1) by allowing the appeal
of the state side.
It is known that on September 3, 2005, 327 people
were temporarily selected as upazila election officials through the Public
Works Commission. During the BNP coalition government, 327 people were
evaluated during the caretaker government in 2007 after controversy arose over
this appointment. 85 of them were fired on September 3 of that year.
On March 23, 2009, the dismissed candidates filed a
case against the administrative tribunal. They appealed against it. The
Administrative Appellate Tribunal granted the appeal.
