45 Shops, Houses Gutted in Bandarban Fire

At least 30 shops and 15 dwelling houses were gutted in a fire at Thanchi Bazar in Bandarban district on Saturday.

The fire broke out at 8am at a shop and engulfed the adjoining shops and houses, said Thoaiha Mong Marma, chairman of Thanchi upazila, reports UNB.  

On information, a firefighting unit rushed to the spot and extinguished the blaze after one and a half hours.

The fire service sources said the fire might have originated from an oven.

On March 22, 47 shops were gutted in a fire at Bolibazar area in Bandarban’s Thanchi upazila.

No causalities were reported.
