Twenty-six writers, teachers, artists, and journalists of the country have expressed concern over the arrest of Dainik Prothom Alo's reporter Shamsuzzaman Shams and the filing of a case against editor Matiur Rahman under the Digital Security Act. Expressing deep concern in this incident, they demanded the repeal of the Digital Security Act.

On Friday (March 31), they made this claim in a statement sent to the media.

According to the statement, a case has been filed against Prothom Alo editor and publisher Motiur Rahman and the newspaper's own reporter Shamsuzzaman Shams under the Digital Security Act and Shamsuzzaman was arrested by the law enforcement forces around 4:30 am last Wednesday (March 29). Arresting a journalist without a warrant in this way amounts to interference with independent journalism and is against human rights.
