A Rajshahi court has put BNP leader Abu Sayeed Chand, who threatened to kill Awami League chief and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina during a speech last Friday, on a five-day remand for questioning.
Rajshahi Judicial Magistrate Mahbub Alam passed the order after the police presented him in court with a 10-day remand plea just a few hours after his arrest on Thursday.
Earlier, Law enforcers have arrested Rajshahi BNP Convener Abu Sayeed Chand for issuing death threat to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Sources said a team of police apprehended him at a check-post at Beripara area in Rajshahi metropolitan city around 10:30am.
Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) Commissioner Anisur Rahman confirmed the arrest.
Addressing a rally of BNP at Rajshahi on Friday, Chand threatened to send the PM to graveyard.
He made such a statement at a public rally of metropolitan and district BNP at Shibpur High School ground in Puthia upazila of Rajshahi.
