Divorce On The Rise, Main Reason Extramarital Affairs

The marriage rate has increased in the country. Divorce rates have also risen. The most significant reasons for divorce are extramarital affairs and incompetence in maintaining marital life (lack of understanding). This picture emerges from a new survey report by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS).

The report is titled "Bangladesh Sample Vital Statistics-2022". The survey report was published on January 31. The survey has taken samples from over three million households.

Alamgir Hossen, the director of the SRHS in the Digital Platform Project of the BBS, said in an interview yesterday, "Through the SRHS survey, we used to collect information on the reasons for divorce in the past, but it was not published. This time, the reasons for divorce have been published for the first time in the survey."
