Metro rail services are set to operate under a new revised schedule to meet the response to the demand from passengers. According to the revised timetable, trains will leave every five minutes instead of eight minutes during peak hours, a local media outlet reports.

MAN Siddique, Managing Director of DMTCL said to the media that the Metro rail operating every Friday are inaccurate. Currently, the Metro will only run for six days a week, with no plans to extend operations to Fridays at present.

Per the current schedule, the first train of the day departs from Uttara North Station for Motijheel Station at 7:10 am, followed by a departure from Motijheel Station at 7:30 am for Uttara North. The last train departs from Uttara North Station at 8:00 pm for Motijheel, with a return journey from Motijheel Station to Uttara North Station at 8:40 pm.

Passengers have expressed their desire for an increase in the number of trains and a reduction in the headway (time that elapses between the arrival of the leading train and the following train) between trains to alleviate the pressure during peak hours. The implementation of the revised schedule aims to improve the overall commuting experience.
