Babar Ali of Chittagong flew the flag of Bangladesh on the world's highest peak Everest. Today, May 19, he reached the summit at 8:30 am Nepal time and that time he raised the red and green flag of Bangladesh. Farhan Zaman, chief coordinator of the campaign, confirmed the news to the media.

Babar Ali has become the fifth Bangladeshi to conquer the world’s highest peak Mount Everest.

His mountaineering club, Vertical Dreamers, announced his achievement through a Facebook post.

In a Facebook post on behalf of Babar's organization Vertical Dreamers, it has been said on Sunday, "By the grace of the Allah and the prayers of millions of well-wishers, Nature has given Babar a place to peak for a moment.''

The basecamp manager and outfit owner confirmed this information.

The post said: “Babar is now on his way down to Camp-4. It will take time to get pictures as it is not possible to communicate with him in the death zone.”

The journey to the final goal began on May 14. Babar Ali reached Camp II later in the day on May 14, Camp III on May 18, and Camp IV early on May 19.

Babar Ali climbed the rest of the way to the peak, known as the Death Zone, during the early light on May 19 and became the 5th Bangladeshi to summit Mount Everest.

He will now turn his focus onto climbing Mount Lhotse. If successful, he would become the first Bangladeshi to summit the fourth-highest peak in the world.

Earlier MA Mohit achieved this feat twice, on May 21, 2011, and May 20, 2012.  And Nishat Majumder, the first Bangladeshi woman to conquer Everest, reached the summit in 2012.

Wasfia Nazreen followed as the second Bangladeshi woman to do so on May 26, 2012.

In 2013, Sajal Khaled also scaled Everest but tragically died during his descent.
