The Kolkata police have recovered likely parts of MP Azim’s corpse in a septic tank of Sanjeeva Gardens in the West Bengal city. The dismembered body of Jhenaidah-4 MP (lawmaker) Anwarul Azim Anar was recovered from the septic tank at Sanjeeva Gardens in Kolkata, India on Tuesday (May 28) which the weigh around 3-4kg, a relative of one of the workers engaged in lifting the flesh told reporters.
Earlier, in search of MP Anar’s body, the Dhaka DB (Detective Branch) team requested the Kolkata CID to break the commode and sewer lines of the flat located at Sanjeeva Gardens where the murder took place.
Jhenaidah-4 Constituency MP Anwarul Azim Anar went to Kolkata from Dhaka on May 12. He was murdered at his Newtown residence on May 13. After the murder, Anar’s body was dismembered into at least 80 pieces. Later, it was dumped in various places including canals.
Jihad Howladar, the arrestee ‘butcher’ who dismembered the body into pieces, told this in the interrogation of West Bengal Intelligence Department CID.
On May 22, CID took over the investigation of MP Anar’s murder case. Then on Thursday, CID arrested one of the suspects in this murder, ‘Butcher’ Jihad.
Citing the interrogation of ‘Butcher’ Jihad, West Bengal CID said that after killing MP Anar, Butcher Jihad dismembered his body into 80 pieces. Then those parts were dumped at various places in Bagjolakhali in the Krishnamati area of Bhandar, which is on the outskirts of Kolkata.
Earlier, a source of Bangladesh Police Detective Branch (DB) had said quoting “butcher Jihad” the parts of MP Azim dumped in the commode of the flat he was murdered in weighed 4 kilograms.
However, DB has neither confirmed nor denied that the body parts belonged to MP Azim. They are awaiting DNA tests to confirm the matter.
