A total of 175 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed in 60 upazilas to maintain law and order during the 4th phase of the 6th upazila parishad election. BGB public relations officer Md Shariful Islam confirmed the news on Tuesday morning (June 4).
The BGB will work as a mobile and striking force to maintain peace and order in the electoral areas from June 3 to June 7.
It is said that BGB will work as a “mobile and striking force” to maintain peace and order in the electoral area from June 3 to June 7 under In Aid to Civil Power to support the local civil administration in the fourth phase of the Upazila Parishad elections to be held on Wednesday (June 5).
Mentioned that on Wednesday (June 5), voting will continue in 60 upazilas of 27 districts in the country from 8 am to 4 pm. Of these, there are 251 candidates for the post of chairman, 265 candidates for the post of vice chairman, and 205 candidates for the post of female vice chairman. 1,43,57,820 voters will exercise their voting rights in 5,144 polling stations.
The Ministry of Public Administration has announced a general holiday in the upazilas on the occasion of the polls.
