Fourth Phase Voting Of 60 Upazilas Underway

The fourth phase of the upazila parishad elections is underway in 60 upazilas nationwide. Voting commenced at 8:00 am. It will continue until 4:00 pm. Out of this, voting happens in six upazilas using the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM).

Shariful Alam, Director of Public Relations of the Election Commission said that ballot paper has been sent to 197 centers on Tuesday (June 4) considering the remote areas. Ballot papers have reached 4,000 and 947 centers today (Wednesday) morning.

A total of 1 crore 43 lakh 57 thousand 820 voters are getting the opportunity to cast  their voting rights in 5 thousand 144 centers.

A total of 721 candidates are in the electoral race against 180 posts of 60 Upazila Parishads.

The candidates include 251 chairman contenders, 265 vice chairman and 205 women (reserved) vice chairman contestants.

The government has declared a general holiday today in these upazilas on the occasion of voting.
