MP Anar Murder: Nepal Hands Over Siam To Kolkata CID For Interrogation

Siam, who was detained in Nepal on charges related to the murder of Member of Parliament Anwarul Azim Anar, has been handed over to the CID of Kolkata, India, by Nepalese police. The Crime Investigation Department (CID) of Kolkata police is currently interrogating Siam about the murder.

During a press conference on Friday (June 7), following a briefing on the security measures taken by the DMP at the capital's Qurbani cattle market, the DMP Commissioner addressed the matter in response to a journalist's question.

The DMP Commissioner stated that investigations are conducted where the incident occurred. However, according to Bangladeshi law, if a Bangladeshi national commits a crime abroad, the perpetrator can also be brought to Bangladesh for trial.

He mentioned that both India and Bangladesh are investigating this incident. The two countries will make a joint decision and take further steps based on the investigation's progress.

Habibur Rahman noted that the CID police in Kolkata currently have two suspects. Recently, Siam, who was arrested in Nepal, is being interrogated by Kolkata's CID.

Additional Police Commissioner (Crime and Operations) Dr. Kh. Mahid Uddin, Additional Police Commissioner (Traffic) Md. Munibur Rahman, Additional Police Commissioner (CTTC) Md. Asaduzzaman, Deputy Police Commissioner, and Additional Deputy Commissioner were also present at the press conference.
