Railways Release Tickets For Jun 18-19 Online

On the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Azha the sale of train tickets was suspended for three days (June 17, 18, and 19), depending on the moon sighting in the month of Zilhaj. As Eid-ul-Azha will be celebrated on June 17, so that no inter-city trains service will ply on that day as previously announced. 

Train tickets for the remaining two days June 18 and 19, are currently available to sale on online.

Bangladesh Railway’s Dhaka Division Chief Commercial Officer (DCO) Shah Alam Kiran Shishir informed this on Saturday (June 8).

He said that no intercity trains will run on Eid day. As a result, tickets for June 18 and 19 have been released online based on moon sightings. “Train tickets for June 18 are being sold today. June 19 train tickets will be sold on Sunday,” DCO Shah Alam mentioned.

Railway sources said tickets for the June 20 intercity train, which starts the “return journey”, will be sold in advance from June 10. Tickets will be sold at 8 am for all intercity trains running in the western region and at 2 pm for all trains running in the eastern region.

After Eid, inter-city train tickets for June 20 will be sold on June 10, June 21 will be on June 11, June 21 will be on June 13, and tickets for June 24 will be sold on June 14.

Bangladesh Railways director general (DG) Sardar Shahadat Ali said 100% of advance and return tickets will be sold online. A passenger can buy a maximum of one ticket for the Eid advance journey and return journey and can buy a maximum of four seats in each case. A passenger will have facility to input names of co-passengers in case of purchase of maximum four tickets. Advance and return tickets are non-refundable on Eid.
