Baridhara Shooting: Probe Body Formed Over Cop Killing

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Monday formed a three-member probe committee to look into the murder of a constable in the hand of his colleague in front of the Palestinian Embassy at Baridhara in the capital.

 Deputy Commissioner of Gulshan Crime Division under the DMP Rifat Rahman Shamim has been made the chief of the committee.

The probe body will find out the motive behind the murder.

The committee has been asked to submit its findings within seven working days, confirmed Kh Mahid Uddin, additional commissioner (crime and operations) of the DMP.

Around 11:45pm on Saturday, Constable Kawsar Ali shot his colleague Monirul Haque dead following a heated altercation. Both the cops were on duty at the embassy.

Sazzad Hossain, a driver of the Japanese Embassy, sustained three bullets in the incident.

Kawser fired a total of 34 bullets from his SMT-9.

Kawsar, who was arrested and a murder case was filed against him with Gulshan Police Station, is now under on a seven-day remand.
