A colourful passing-out parade of the 101st recruit batch of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) was held at Satkania in Chittagong on Thursday. The parade was held at the Bir Uttam Mojibur Rahman Parade Ground at the Border Guard Training Centre and College (BGTC&C) in Baitul Izzat. Director General of BGB Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui, who attended the programme as chief guest, inspected the march and took salute.
After the parade, the BGB DG delivered a speech, saying that after achieving independence, the force is guarding the border to protect the country’s sovereignty. The force is working to thwart smuggling and trafficking through the border areas.
The BGB plays a key role in maintaining law and order by supporting law enforcement agencies, combating natural disasters, and responding to emergencies, he said.
Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui said that the discipline is the foundation of this force.
The BGB chief is hopeful that the new soldiers will uphold the tradition of the force by keeping the four mottos--morale, fraternity, discipline and efficiency.
He said that the BGB would be a symbol of security and trust at the border, requiring a combination of honesty, integrity, loyalty, sincerity, and discipline.
Out of 556 recruits trained at the BGTC&C, 520 males and 36 females participated in the 24-week basic training.
