The road communication between Khagrachhari, Dhaka, and Chattogram has been halted due to landslide triggered by incessant rain. The landslide took place in Sapahar area of Alutila around 5:00 am on Tuesday (July 2). Due to this havoc landslide of Alutila Sapmara area of Matiranga in Khagrachori traffic on the Dhaka-Chattogram road has been stopped. This time many vehicles are stuck on both sides of the road. This incident happened around 5 am on Tuesday.
Maksudur Rahman, Executive Engineer of Khagrachari Road Division said that they are watching the news.
It is learned that traffic has been stopped for more than 1 hour due to landslides in Bhor Sapmara area. Fire service is working to remove soil from the road.
Apart from this, road communication with Longdu in Rangamati has been snapped in the headquarters area of Dighinala-Longdu road. Besides, 25 villages under Merung and Kabakhali union were flooded due to non-stop heavy rain.
Baghaihat on Khagrachari Sajek Road has been blocked for traffic along Sajek. The closure of the communication between Khagrachari and Sajek resulted in tourists being stranded in Sajek.
Earlier, meteorologist Dr Abul Kalam Mallik said that there will be heavy rain for a few days. As a result, there is a risk of landslides in the hilly areas of Chattogram, Khagrachhari, Rangamati, Bandarban, Cox's Bazar.
