Over 800 tourists have been stranded at Sajek tourist centres as movements of all types of vehicles have been halted due to inundation of two places for onrush of hill water at Baghaihat-Sajek road of Baghaichhari upazila in Rangamati.

Sajek resort-cottage owners association has confirmed this.

Also Baghaichari Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Shirin Akter confirmed this information on Tuesday (July 2) morning.

She said that the water of the Kachalong River has flowed over the boundary line due to landslides in Baghaichari upazila. As a result, Machalong Bazar, Baghaihat and Kabakhali area of Dighinala upazila of Khagrachari have been flooded.

The UNO also said that due to the rising water of the Kachalong River adjoining areas of Sajek went under water. At this moment, the road communication between Sajek and adjoining upazilas is suspended. That’s why the tourists are forced to stay in Sajek.
