Member of Parliament of Jhenaidah-2 Constituency Nasser Shahrear Zahedee Mohul emphasized on taking proper and scientific steps to use the country's natural resources in a sustainable manner. He said, by the year 2025, the population of Bangladesh will exceed 20 crores. But in comparing to the increment of population growth our natural resources are not increasing on the contrary. Rivers are drying up, oceans are becoming polluted and problems such as rising salinity are occurring. In such a reality, we have to think now about what kind of country we will leave for future generations. Steps should be taken to use natural resources in a sustainable manner. Resources should be extracted from nature by preserving it.

On Wednesday (July 03, 2024) at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center in the capital's Sher-E-Bangla Nagar, MP Nasser Shahrear Zahedee Mohul said these things while participating as a special guest in the session titled 'Ocean Prosperity: Catalyzing Blue Economy in Bangladesh' - an international conference titled 'Sustainable Blue Production'.

At the same time, he urged the establishment of an independent ministry or department in order to coordinate the overall activities in utilizing the potential of the Blue Economy.

Besides, he emphasized on taking appropriate steps in securing funds from domestic and foreign sources to exploit this potential.

The session was chaired by the Minister of Fisheries and Livestock Abdur Rahman. Planning Commission Member (Secretary) Abdul Baki was also present as guest of honour. Besides, four local and foreign experts presented their research paper in the session.
