The areas of Dhaka where traffic congestion will increase in afternoon

The traffic jam has increased since Sunday morning due to the 'Bangla Blockade' of students participating in the anti-quota movement, the busyness of the first working day of the week, the Ratha Yatra of Hindu religious people.

The traffic department of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) said in a press conference organized at the media center on Sunday morning that there may be more traffic congestion on some roads in Dhaka.

DMP Joint Commissioner (Traffic-South) SM Mehedi Hasan said that there will be traffic congestion on various roads of Old Dhaka, Ramna, Motijheel, Shahbagh, Dhanmondi, Gulistan, Lalbagh and Wari areas from this afternoon as compared to other days. DMP has requested to take enough time to travel on these roads.

The main Ratha Yatra will begin at 3pm on Sunday from the Swamibag Iskcon temple in the capital, traversing various streets and concluding at the Dhakeshwari temple. Devotees of Hindu religion will go to old Dhaka from different areas of Dhaka to join Ratha Yatra. Due to this, traffic congestion will increase in this area as well, said DMP.
