Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday morning visited the Mirpur-10 metro rail station which was attacked and vandalized by the agitators during the anti-quota movement.

Sheikh Hasina and others went around the affected metro station around 9:00 am.

Earlier on Friday, agitators attacked Mirpur-10 and Kazipara metro rail stations during an anti-quota movement. They destroyed many important instruments of these stations.

Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) said it needs more than one year to re-launch Mirpur-10 and Kazipara metro rail stations. It has already formed an investigation committee to count the losses of the properties by the attacks.

Company Secretary of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) Tarafdar Mahmudur Rahman told the media this information. He also said that the arson-vandals in the Metrorail will be identified by looking at the CCTV footage. The administration is going to take strict action in this incident.

A member of that committee said that it will take about 6 months to a year to rebuild these two metro stations. Along with installing all the equipment, the technical process has to be completed. The entire e-system of Mirpur-10 station has been destroyed. It may cost around 250 crores to restart this system.

In this regard, DMTCL company secretary Abdur Rauf said that the damage caused by vandalism and fire is not the only thing in these two stations. More damage done. The income from passenger transport is decreasing. Mirpur-10 station is the busiest station.
