Leaving behind many news from around the world, for the past one week, the news of Bangladesh's quota reform movement and the violence surrounding it is gaining prominence in the media of the country and abroad. News of curfew, killing of students in Bangladesh is gaining prominence in social media. Demonstrations are taking place in countries around the world in support of the student movement. Clashes and frenzied firing on students are making headlines.
In the international arena, the influential countries as well as the international media are presenting curfew, student killings in printed edition newspapers, digital editions and television channels with great importance in presenting news and analysis of news. Qatar's Al Jazeera, New York Times, Australia's ABC, India's The Telegraph, The Hindu, Pakistan's Dawn, England's BBC, Germany's Deutsche Welle, America's Voice of America, Foreign Policy, and all well-known and lesser-known media are publishing news with importance.
Due to internet shutdown and various reasons, the country's televisions are not showing the horror of the violence, but various international media are publishing pictorial reports. In these reports, various information and terrible pictures are emerging. How this crisis is created in Bangladesh, who is responsible for it - the analysis of these questions is going on. In addition to publishing news in the media, students are protesting in major cities of different countries around the world.
It has been reported that there have been protests in major cities of the world including Australia, Britain, United Arab Emirates, United States, Canada, Qatar and West Bengal of India regarding the quota movement of Bangladesh. There are protests in Saudi Arabia. More than half a hundred Bangladeshi workers are serving prison terms for protesting in the United Arab Emirates. Due to the protests in Maldives, the process of repatriating Bangladeshi workers is underway. Students protested in hundreds of cities around the world, including London in Britain, Cardiff in Wales, Washington in the United States, New York. Illustrated slogans of student protests in Kolkata, India have gone viral on social media.
Apart from this, two MPs of the ruling Labor Party, Rupa Haque and Afsana Begum, have brought two separate proposals in the British Parliament regarding the massive loss of life and 'shoot on sight orders' in the violent situation surrounding the quota reform movement in Bangladesh. On July 25 Rupa Haque and July 22 Afsana Begum raised their proposals. They want to know the UK government's position on the Bangladesh situation in the session of the British Parliament.
In response, the Labor government's spokesperson and MP Powell said, “the British government is deeply concerned about the violence in Bangladesh. Loss of life is unacceptable. Right to protest and internet service to be restored.”
