A Dhaka court has granted bail to 42 HSC examinees who were arrested in various cases filed over violence during the recent quota reform movement.
The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court accepted their bail pleas on Friday (August 2).
It is unclear how many HSC candidates were arrested during the recent unrest. Last week, the Jashore Education Board allowed two examinees to sit their HSC tests from Satkhira jail.
At least 150 people, including many students and children, were killed as violence flared in mid-July during the quota reform movement. Thousands of others injured in clashes and firing.
A number of cases have been filed across Bangladesh accusing thousands of people over violence, arson and vandalism during the protests. Police also arrested many students from part in recent demonstrations.
Students are pressing for the release of those detained during and after the quota reform protest.
