At least two people were killed and 20 injured in a clash between the police and the Awami League and its affiliates with the non-cooperation protesters in Munshiganj on the call of the anti-discrimination student movement.
The clash took place at around 11:15 am on Sunday (August 4) in the supermarket area of the city.
Supervisor of Munshiganj General Hospital Abu Hena Mohammad Jamal confirmed the fact of the dead and said that their identity has not been confirmed yet. More than 20 injured people came to the emergency department.
Both the deceased are men and they are laborers by profession. Their age is between 22 to 25 years.
Munshiganj Additional Superintendent of Police Thandar Khairul Hasan said, I cannot say the number of casualties yet. However, the police did not fire any shots.
The anti-discrimination student movement has announced a unilateral demand for the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her cabinet from today.
