A sabotage case has been filed against former social welfare minister Dipu Moni, a prominent leader of the Awami League government, and her brother. The complaint, lodged on Wednesday, also names Dipu Moni's elder brother, Wadud Tipu, along with 382 other individuals. Additionally, around 1,200 unidentified people are accused of involvement in the sabotage.

Md Selim Mia, 45, the manager of Munira Bhaban, a building located in Chandpur's Koralia area, is the plaintiff. According to the case details, on July 18, a group of armed leaders and activists attacked Munira Bhaban, causing extensive damage. The case alleges that the building was vandalized, looted, and set on fire with the assistance of Dipu Moni, Chandpur Awami League Vice President Wadud Tipu, General Secretary Abu Nayeem Patwari Dulal, Chandpur Municipality Mayor Zillur Rahman, and Chandpur Sadar Upazila Parishad Chairman Humayun Kabir Shumon.

At the time of the attack, the building's owner, Sheikh Farid Ahmed Manik, the District BNP president, was out of the country. The incident has reportedly caused a financial loss of approximately Tk 25 million.

Sheikh Farid expressed his disappointment, stating that the destruction was a result of political revenge and emphasized his respect for the law, hoping for justice and a fair trial.

Additional Superintendent of Police Yasir Arafat assured that the legal process is underway and emphasized the commitment to prevent any innocent individuals from being wrongly targeted.
