Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Adviser of the Interim Government, emphasized today that the youth, who have inspired us with their vision, should be actively involved in flood control and post-flood rehabilitation efforts. He also highlighted that NGOs are a vital force in Bangladesh and encouraged them to take the lead in these initiatives.

He made these remarks during a meeting with 44 local and small NGOs of Bangladesh at the state residence and office, Jamuna, on Saturday (August 24).

Following the meeting, Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Islam stated that the Chief Adviser had a dynamic two-hour discussion with representatives from small, medium, large, and local NGOs. They addressed the flood situation, discussed future actions, and explored how to work together to advance Bangladesh.

The Chief Adviser focused on post-flood challenges, particularly water-borne diseases, health risks, and collaborative efforts on food distribution and rehabilitation, according to Shafiqul Islam.

During the meeting, Dr. Yunus mentioned that the people of Bangladesh are confronting the floods with the same determination they showed during the mass-uprising. Communities are rallying to help flood victims by raising relief efforts in neighborhoods and villages. With the youth's energy and motivation, the entire nation has come together to combat the flood crisis.

He further stated that NGOs have played a significant role in Bangladesh since the Liberation War, especially at the local level. He expressed a desire to utilize their expertise. Dr. Yunus suggested that if students bring relief aid to areas like Parshuram and see local NGOs in action, they will be encouraged to work alongside them in coordination.
