Turkiye Provides Aid To Flood-Hit Bangladesh || Photo : Collected
Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), the Turkish overseas aid body, has stepped in to provide emergency support in response to devastating floods in central, eastern and southeastern parts of Bangladesh.
Türkiye's state-run agency delivered 500 relief packages to the Department of Fire Service and Civil Defence, Bangladesh as part of its humanitarian efforts, demonstrating solidarity with the affected communities, BSS reported on Friday citing a press release.
Fire Service and Civil Defence Chattogram Division Deputy Director Dinmoni Sharma received the relief materials on behalf of its Director General Brigadier General Md Main Uddin from TIKA country Coordinator Sevki Mert Baris at Maijdi fire service station-Noakhali on Wednesday, it said.
TIKA was established in 1992, and its journey in Bangladesh started in 2014 with the establishment of the Dhaka Programme Coordination Office. This office also oversees TIKA's projects in Maldives, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Bhutan.
According to the Disaster Management and Relief Ministry, as many as 5,480,463 people have been affected by the flood in 492 unions and municipalities under 68 upazilas in 11 districts.
