Former Dhaka-7 parliamentarian Haji Mohammad Salim has been sent on a five-day remand in a case filed over the killing of Ideal College student Khalid Hasan Saifullah.
Dhaka’s Chief Metropolitan Magistrate granted police’s remand plea on Monday (September 2).
Salim was arrested on Sunday night in Dhaka’s Bongshal. He was taken to Detective Branch’s office and kept there.
The former MP faced the wrath of students during the quota reform movement. A video of that incident went viral on social media.
Salim was jailed for 13 years in 2008 for amassing illegal wealth. His sentence was commuted to 10 years in 2022 by the High Court.
