Burnt One Dies, 7 In Critical Condition

A man, who suffered burn injuries from an explosion at a ship-breaking yard in Chattogram's Sitakunda on Saturday, died early Sunday.

Meanwhile, seven others burnt victims are in critical condition and receiving treatment at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute.

The deceased was identified as Ahmed Ullah.

On Saturday, Chattogram Medical's burn unit chief Dr Rafiq Uddin Ahmed said that the condition of burnt eight people among 12 are critical. They were sent to Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute for better treatment.

Around 12:30PM on Saturday, an explosion occured at the SN Corporation ship-breaking yard, owned by Shaukat Ali Chowdhury, on the sea coast in the Shitalpur Tentultala area of Sonaichari Union at Sitakunda upazila. Twelve workers were burnt in the incident.
