A court in Rangpur on Tuesday placed two police members, who have been arrested in a case filed over the death of Begum Rokeya University student Abu Sayed during the Quota Reform Movement, on a four-day remand.

Rangpur Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court-2 Judge Asaduzzaman granted the remand after PBI police sough a five-day remand for questioning.

Superintendent of PBI police Jakir Hossain confirmed the matter.

The two police members are Tajhat Metropolitan Police Station ASI Amir Hossain and constable Sujan Chandra Roy.

Earlier this morning, ASI Amir Hossain and constable Sujan were produced before the court amid tight security measures.

On Monday, the two police members were arrested and handed over to the PBI for legal steps.

Ramjan Ali, elder brother of Abu Sayed, filed the murder case with the Metropolitan Magistrate's Court in Tajhat of Rangpur on August 18 accusing 17 named and 30-35 unidentified people.

Abu Sayed, a student of the 12th batch of the English department at BRUR, was killed in police firing in front of his university campus in Rangpur on July 16 during the Quota Reform Movement.

He was a key coordinator of the movement.
