The memorial meeting for the martyrs of the Anti-discrimination Student Movement scheduled for 14 September has been postponed, as the full list of the deceased is yet to be finalised, Information and Broadcasting Ministry Adviser Nahid Islam said today (12 September).

During a press conference held at the ministry's conference room, Nahid Islam explained that the Ministry of Health is still preparing the list of casualties from the movement.

"So far, reports indicate that 728 individuals have been killed and 20,263 injured, but the death toll may increase slightly. As the final list is not ready yet, we have decided to postpone the memorial meeting stated for 14 September," he stated.

Addressing the cost of the event, Islam clarified, "It is not exactly a Tk5 crore budget. The expenditure has been kept within this amount. This includes the cost of transporting the families of the deceased and injured from outside Dhaka and providing them with accommodation for one night."
