Former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal's son, Safi Mudassir Khan Jyoti, has been arrested by the police. He was apprehended last night, Friday (September 13), by Dhaka District Police from the capital city.
Confirming the incident, Dhaka District Superintendent of Police (SP) Ahmad Muyid said that Safi Mudassir Khan Jyoti, son of former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, was arrested at around 3:30 AM on Friday night in connection with a case filed at Ashulia Police Station in Dhaka District. He will be taken to court to seek remand for further questioning.
It is noteworthy that in January of this year, Sheikh Hasina secured her fourth consecutive term in power after winning the national elections. However, the protests surrounding the quota reform, which began in June, escalated into widespread anti-government demonstrations by the end of July and early August. Faced with intense public pressure, she resigned and left the country on August 5. She is currently residing in India.
Since then, from August 13 onwards, a series of cases have been filed across the country. To date, about 150 murder cases have been filed against Sheikh Hasina alone. Several former ministers, state ministers, the Prime Minister’s advisors, former Inspector Generals of Police (IGP), and government officials have been arrested in connection with these cases.
