Former EC Secretary Jahangir Alam Arrested

Former Secretary of the Election Commission and the Ministry of Home Affairs, Md. Jahangir Alam, has been arrested by the Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police (DB) from Gulshan.

On Tuesday, October 1, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of the DMP Media and Public Relations Department, Muhammad Talebur Rahman, confirmed the news.

He stated that DB police arrested Md. Jahangir Alam, who is known as the mastermind behind the "dummy election," from the Gulshan area of the capital.

Earlier, on August 14, the government had forced the Secretary of the Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs into retirement.

It is noteworthy that Jahangir Alam served as the Secretary of the Election Commission during the controversial parliamentary election held on January 7 of this year.
