The Chamber Court has upheld the High Court's order to appoint a receiver for the maintenance of all properties owned by Beximco Group, which is owned by former Prime Minister's Adviser on Private Industry and Investment, Salman F Rahman.
On Tuesday, October 1, Chamber Justice Rezaul Haque issued this order. Additionally, the court set October 28 as the date for a hearing before the Appellate Division's full bench.
Earlier, on September 5, the High Court had ordered the appointment of a receiver to oversee all the institutions owned by Salman F Rahman's Beximco Group, directing Bangladesh Bank to implement the order.
The High Court bench of Justice AKM Asaduzzaman and Justice Muhammad Mahbub-ul-Islam issued the order during a hearing of a writ petition.
The court also issued a rule asking why Bangladesh Bank should not be directed to report the exact amount of outstanding loans of Beximco Group's institutions.
Lawyer Masud A Sobhan represented the writ petition in court, while Deputy Attorney General Redwan Ahmed Ranjib and Assistant Attorney General Mujahidul Islam Shaheen represented the state.
