Former Exim Bank Chairman Nazrul Islam Arrested

The Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police have arrested Nazrul Islam Majumder, the former chairman of Exim Bank and the chairman of NASA Group, from Gulshan in the capital.

The arrest was confirmed by Rezaul Karim Mallik, additional commissioner of the DMP’s Detective Branch, on Tuesday night (October 1).

He stated that Nazrul Islam faces multiple cases against him and was taken to the DB office after his arrest in Gulshan.

Nazrul Islam Majumder served as the chairman of the Bangladesh Association of Banks (BAB) for 17 consecutive years starting from January 2008. He lost leadership of both BAB and Exim Bank after the fall of the Awami League-led government on August 5.
