There is confusion surrounding the whereabouts of Sheikh Hasina, who has reportedly fled to India. Recently, various social media platforms have claimed that the former Prime Minister has moved from India to the United Arab Emirates.
However, both the Indian and UAE governments have not confirmed this information, leaving the Bangladeshi government uncertain about her location, as stated by Foreign Affairs Advisor Touhid Hossain.
Speaking to reporters at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday (October 8), he addressed questions regarding the former Prime Minister’s status.
In response to inquiries about whether the ministry is aware of her possible relocation to the UAE, he said, "We have not been able to confirm her whereabouts. We have sought information in Delhi and the UAE, but no official confirmation has been provided. However, as you may have seen, we also heard that she might have gone to Ajman. But despite attempts to reconfirm, we have not been successful."
When asked about reports suggesting that the U.S. pressured India to facilitate the former Prime Minister’s departure, he replied, "I cannot say; you should ask the Americans."
