Home Minister and Agricultural Advisor Lieutenant General (Retd.) Mohammad Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has assured that this year’s Puja will proceed smoothly, with no issues anticipated. He emphasized the need for public cooperation and mentioned that additional forces, including RAB, BGB, and the Army, have been deployed alongside the usual police and Ansar members.

He made these comments today (October 8) during a visit to the Agricultural Research Institute in Gazipur, where he spoke to reporters ahead of a meeting.

Regarding market syndicates, the Home Advisor expressed confidence that the market would stabilize soon and that the Ministry of Commerce would dismantle any existing syndicates.

Addressing rumors on social media, he stated, "It's your responsibility to report the situation. There have been no issues in my area; please write about any problems in Gazipur, so everyone understands the situation." He noted that mob culture has existed in the past, and emphasized the importance of increasing public awareness alongside law enforcement efforts to combat it.

Highlighting achievements in the agricultural sector, Jahangir Alam Chowdhury noted that while the population has increased since the War of Independence, arable land has not expanded. He pointed out that agriculture plays a crucial role in the country, and the institute is working towards its improvement. He mentioned that assistance, including seeds, seedlings, and cash, has been sent to flood-affected farmers in recent disasters.

The Agricultural Advisor praised the agricultural technologies, equipment, and products displayed at the event, encouraging scientists in their work. He later held a meeting with officials at the Agricultural Research Institute conference hall.

Also present were Agriculture Secretary Dr. Md. Emdad Ullah Mia, Director General of BARl Dr. Abdullah Yusuf Akand, District Commissioner Nafisa Arifin, and Superintendent of Police Abul Kalam Azad.
