Killing 42 People: Case Against Khaleda Zia Scrapped

A Dhaka court today scrapped or dismissed the case against BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia for killing 42 people during strikes-blockades.

Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Ziadur Rahman passed this order on Thursday (October 24).

According to the case source, 42 people were burnt to death from January 5 to 1 February 2015 during the strikes-blockades called by the 20-party alliance led by BNP. In these incidents, a case was filed against Khaleda Zia and three leaders of the BNP. In this case, they were made “Order Defendant”.

The other three accused in the case are the BNP Chairperson’s adviser Dr. Emajuddin Ahmed, Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury, and a member of the standing committee Barrister Rafiqul Islam Mia.
